The ‘Time Piece’ Shows Feedback from ‘Shore House’ Oct 2007 | After performance of ‘Sentimental Journey’
A charming very elderly gentleman with a very soft voice beckoned me over and made huge efforts to communicate with me. He remarked that he had met many famous people in his life but had never heard such a beautiful voice before – he had tears in his eyes – but they were good tears!
He had been involved in the Spanish Civil War when he was in the navy – he had somehow then been involved in the making of a swashbuckling film – Captain Horatio Hornblower – which was when he met many stars including Gregory Peck.
To have sat in that lounge and been so mesmerised by my performance of some classic 50’s songs after all he had experienced in his long live – well I was touched – to say the very least.
Trisha first wrote and performed a one-woman play back in 1996 and hasn’t looked back!! (Well actually that is exactly what she does do – look back!)
Her first play was a full length piece entitled ‘Saving Time’ and toured nationally to rave reviews. This was followed by another full length play and a number of reviews which she toured with an accompanist. These shows included the works of Noel Coward, Gertrude Lawrence and the wonderful Joyce Grenfell. The Joyce Grenfell Shows proved a massive hit and Trisha toured a number of different versions of these shows with rural touring networks in Lancashire, Cheshire, Dorset and Hampshire as well as fringe theatres nationally.
In more recent years, however, Trisha has written four short pieces (45 minutes) specifically for touring around residential homes and day centres. The first of these pieces was commissioned by Hampshire County Council and her shows have consistently been among the most frequently booked ever since. Trisha’s acting experience goes back even further with performances from Pinter to Panto and in village halls, full scale theatres, open air festivals and private functions. This varied experience gives Trisha the ability to adapt to the audiences, venues and requirements involved in any particular situation – a very valuable skill.
The time-piece shows currently available are detailed below. These shows can be adapted and combined to create longer or shorter shows. The shows are particularly suited to mature audiences. Lunch clubs, reunions, British Legion events, day centres, residential/nursing homes, community events... Trisha has also had training in dementia and also the use of reminiscence in dementia - this training along with her experiences means that she can adapt to all audiences and hopefully give enjoyment to all! SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY
Taking on the role of fifties housewife Mrs Brown, Trisha brings you cookery and childcare coupled with cabaret! Before your very eyes, Mrs Brown will whisk off her apron and become her fantasy stars of stage and screen.
Magazines and household tips blend with live singing of classics made famous by the likes of Peggy Lee, Doris Day, Marilyn Monroe and Gene Kelly. Add to this a touch of movie magic and costume and the atmosphere of the fifties is recreated in a highly visual and entertaining way!

KEEP SMILING THROUGH
An evocative mix of music, song, comedy and home front memories from the 1940’s.
This forties show will stir some memories and daydreams of a time past – but with a light touch which doesn’t dwell on painful wartime memories. There’s a splash of Vera Lynn and Glen Miller along with radio archive material, make- do- and- mend and more.
Trisha takes on the role of a 1940s housewife – Mrs Brown - and brings to life the songs and shows she hears on the radio in between keeping the house and kiddiewinks in order. It was the music, the humour and the community spirit and resourcefulness that kept a smile on people’s faces even through the hardest of times – and Trisha invites her audience to join her whilst she takes a journey back in time to conjure up those special smiles once more. A MUSICAL CELEBRATION
This trip back in time spans the period from VE Day to the Coronation. Once more Trisha takes on the role of Mrs Brown – only this time a little older!! This Mrs Brown has grown up children and even a grandchild. They have lived through the war years and with the help of her scrap book of cuttings and photos Mrs Brown shares the memories of VE day celebrations, frozen winters, birthdays, days out and of course the Coronation. Once more Trisha incorporates evocative songs from these years as well as radio archive material and clever props.
Swinging SixtiesThe 'time piece' shows have prooved very popular and Trisha keeps getting asked back - so she keeps thinking up more ideas for more shows!! She was aware that there are lot of ageing rockers and hippies out there ( herself included!!) - so this time she's going a bit modern with the 1960's! A trip back in time to the 1960’s. Love, peace, rock and roll and teddy boys! Trisha Lewis combines music, costume, objects and pictures to bring memories alive.
